Nel 1948, Solomon Michoels viene ucciso a Minsk in un finto incidente. Poco dopo, a Mosca, l’amico e collega Venjamin Zuskin viene rapito, torturato e fucilato. Entrambi erano figure centrali del Teatro Ebraico Sovietico (Goset), celebri per il loro Re Lear in yiddish, mai più rappresentato. Colpevoli, secondo Stalin, di aver dato voce a un’arte ebraica libera e visionaria, fatta di canti, colori e poesia. Lo spettacolo ricostruisce questa storia dimenticata, intrecciando memoria, pittura e teatro. È un viaggio nella Russia staliniana, alla riscoperta di due artisti condannati per aver creduto nella forza dell’arte e della cultura yiddish, in un’epoca che ne decretava la fine.
